Introducing...

Tyler William

So here he is, our little bundle! As you can tell by the lack of blog updates we've been a little busy since Tyler entered the world on Thursday evening. We are on top of the world and can't stop staring at this little man that's entered our lives. It's incredible to believe he's not even 72 hours old yet and I can't imagine life without him! We spent Thursday and Friday nights in the hospital and came home yesterday. I thought for sure I'd feel overwhelmed our first night on our own at home, but something about being here instead of the hospital is just so comforting. Tyler had a great night last night, especially considering he has his days and nights confused. He's also so far proven to be a champion eater... maybe in a few months he'll catch up with cousin Will!!! Brad's proven to be an incredible Daddy and has helped me out so much while still on the road to recovery.

Thank you to everyone for their kind words, visits and the never ending food supply - we're so lucky to have all of you in our lives and Tyler is one lucky boy to be surrounded by such love! Here's some photos from the past 3 days , enjoy!

Success!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daddy reporting in one more time...

After almost 19 hours of labor, little Biscuit was born! You can now ignore the counter to the left of the screen. Mommy did an amazing job. She definitely proved she is one tough cookie when she needs to be! Both Biscuit and I are extrememly proud of her and lucky to have her in our lives!

The official stats for Biscuit:

Birthdate: 8/28/2008
Time: 8:56 p.m.
Weight: 7 pounds 1 oz
Length: 19.5 inches

In other news, we also FINALLY decided on a name. While we'll always remember him as Biscuit, his offical name moving forward is Tyler William. Grady came in a close second. Much to Libby's chagrin, Tyler's name wasn't finalized until early afternoon today.

We're heading out of the hospital and returning home tomorrow. Mommy and I can't wait for Tyler to see his room for the first time! I'm sure Mommy will be adding pictures to the blog very soon - stay tuned!

Update from Dad

Thank goodness for the epideral! Becky was great on her own, but the pain relief it brought has really helped her. We still have a way to go, so we're both resting now while we have a chance.

On the name front...no official decisions yet. I'm starting to think this kid is going to leave the hospital with Biscuit on his birth certificate!

Thanks for all of the kind comments!

The 28th or 29th???

Our little buddy is on his way!!!

I woke up this morning to my water breaking around 2:30am. We called the doctor, showered up and have now been at the hospital since 4:30. So far things are pretty slow to progress, but we know we'll get to meet our little man in the next 24 hours... so what does everything think... the 28th or 29th? I'm voting for the 28th... wonder why!

Stay tuned, hopefully I can get Daddy to do some updates over the next few days so you can all see photos!!!

Wish us luck!

Nearly Complete!

We've gotten lots of questions about the nursery, so here it is - almost complete! Things are finally on the walls and the rug and ottoman (thanks Grammy & Aunt Anne) arrived last week. We sure hope he likes fish as much as his daddy does!

A BIG thank you goes to Brad for all the hard work that went into Biscuit's room - I was pretty useless when it came to painting, replacing lighting and putting together book shelves! It's funny the things he's willing to do when it's for his little boy....

Any progress is good progress

So yesterday's appointment wasn't a total bust like last week's was, but it wasn't anything earth shattering either! Seems as if he's a little lower than last week, I'm now 75% effaced, but still just at 1 centimeter. She did say however, 1 "GOOD" centimeter - so that made me feel a little better! I'm fully aware that none of these things mean anything about determining when this little boy will make his arrival- but the more progress I can make without having to feel anything makes me one happy pregnant lady!

I had been putting off some small baby preparations around the house on purpose, not wanting to put matress covers and sheets on the crib and pack n'play or covers on changing tables too early (they'll get dusty you know!). But last night, I went all out, I figure maybe he's just been holding out until he knows I'm officially ready for him... but as you can see I woke up this morning with no baby on the way! Maybe he's just waiting for me to pack the hospital bag...

How cute are these kids?!

I just have to share some adorable new pictures of my neice and nephew. I can't beleive how big both of them are getting! Will's changed so much over the past 4 months and Ms. Ali's getting ready to start 3rd Grade next week - where does the time go?! I can only hope our little guy will be as beautiful as these two are!!! Enjoy!

Speaking of fruits and vegetables...

Here's a few of the notorious belly pictures over the past eight months showing the growth of our baby boy!

19 Weeks: Mango
So happy to finally have a little baby bump!

27 Weeks: Our little eggplant!

37 Weeks: Watermelon
Happy full-term, baby boy!

Seriously though, how is he going to fit in there for another few weeks?

"Free to deliver at will"

That's what my doctor told me at my last appointment! Today is a big day in pregnancy land, Biscuit is officially 37 weeks old and considered full-term. I can't believe I've been carrying this baby around that long, in retrospect time sure does fly by! So he could come any day now and be a healthy little guy, but in reality I'm afraid it's time to settle in for the long haul, I have a feeling the next 3 (let's not hope 4) weeks are going to go on forever!

Another interesting tidbit about pregnancy land is that you become obsessed with comparing the size of your baby to the size of fruits and vegetables - over the past 37 weeks our baby has gone from a poppy seed to an approximate 6 pound, 20 inch long watermelon. I remember being so excited when we reached week 11, he was the size of a lime which finally seemed substantial to me, but now he's a watermelon... doesn't that thought paired with the term "delivery" sound lovely!

Still cooking!

So we officially finished our childbirth classes this week and topped it off with a breastfeeding class last night. Brad seemed to think he should receive some type of diploma due to his 5 weeks of attendance and participation! I will admit he did ask his fair share of questions during these classes, but I was always nervous when his hand went up to see what exactly it was he would be inquiring about!

So at this point not too many more roadblocks stand in the way of our baby's arrival, just a few finishing touches to the nursery and packing the hospital bag! I had my 36 week appointment yesterday and there's not much progress from the prior week when I was 1 centimeter and 50% effaced, he's definitely very content in there and still very high. So from now on gravity is my best friend and I'll be spending lots of time on the exercise ball and walking to hopefully encourage him that it's getting close to time to come meet us! I think it's going to take a lot of convincing though, he's a happy camper just where he is and doesn't seem to mind the cramped quarters quite as much as his mom does!

In fact, what people say about sleeping this late into pregnancy is definitely true, it's so hard to come by and just about impossible to get comfortable! So last night when I so badly wanted to sleep and sweet baby boy had completely different plans and was having a party in there, things got a little rough - have I ever mentioned I have the BEST husband in the world?!!!

The name game...

One of the most frequently asked questions during my pregnancy has been if we have decided on a name yet. The funny thing is, before having a baby I thought this would be such a fun activity while pregnant, partly because Brad has always refused to play the "name our baby" game prior to there being an actual "baby" to name. However, I've come to discover it's downright stressful to pick a name that will be appropriate for a sweet baby boy who then during his teenage years has his name announced over the loud speaker at a sporting event (hey - he could be a football player or he could be in the marching band - I think his Dad and I have different perspectives on this one, but I prefer the band, less injury potential - but that's a post for a different day!) and then eventually needs to work for the young man giving a firm handshake in the office. So you've guessed it, we still haven't picked one, but we have settled in on a short list of what his father considers to be "solid names" and we're going to wait until we meet him to pick the one that fits him the best. It's funny that none of them jump up and down and wave their arms saying pick me, so until that occurs, we're just happy to have our list!

Mommy did it!!!

I know, I know - many of my girlfriends are sitting in front of their computers right now in disbelief, but I've finally been convinced that a baby blog for our little man would be a great way to document his arrival and first year! So here I am, on the blogging band wagon - I'll do my best so that our wonderful friends and family can keep up with the many changes and adventures we're about to embark on and watch our little biscuit grow!
